My uncle always grows loads of Sun Flowers in the summer. Was trying to get a few shots with Bee's buzzing around them but with the movement of the flowers, high winds, and busy Bee's I didn't get good shots other than this one.

| Trek posters |
[Jul. 23rd, 2008|11:04 pm] |
Hello everybody! I've found two posters from AMT\ERTL model kits:

Does anybody know if there are any other artworks of such kind? Or AMT\ERTL printed only this two?
Thanks! |

Eh, minor update.
Still alive, nothing really of value to post. Work with nice people - but everyone is at least 5 years older than me and married. No one has the desire to go to the driving range , or golf , or go to a happy hour or anything like that.
The work is challenging, which is rewarding , but that's about it.
Having a hard time meeting new people outside of work - having a hard time thinking it's going to change. Not playing the 'woe is me' card, because I'm going to keep getting involved with the alumni association and other things - but it's not that easy. The apartment complex doesn't seem to have anyone in my age demo either....
A lot of hippies here in Nor-Cal , not many Republicans. When I went to Borders, all of the Republican literature was hidden away, with books from Obamma and the like facing towards you.
Oh well - another day another dollar you know |

| A dissapointed Shipper. |
[Jul. 20th, 2008|01:29 pm] |
| [ | What I feel like |
| | disappointed | ] | Okay, well.
As my first post on this group im going to talk about my dissapoinment at the lack of a very very good thing ; Doctor and Seven of Nine shipper stuff. Where has it all gone? . After Someone to Watch over me shut down ther is hardly anything anymore , no new videos being produced , no new fan fic being written and all the links on sites to archives seem to be dead ones.
There is enough J/C to stop you leaving your house ever again , theres even pleanty of J/7 . From what ive read/heard im not the only D/7 shipper around so there must be some kind of demand for it.
( I apologise to any of my friends reading this who haft to hear me bang on about D/7 more than enough!). |

| Poem: my first day in Kathmandu. |
[Jul. 19th, 2008|01:41 pm] |
by Erick Sherab Zangpo (formerly Erick Evensen, even more formerly Eric Neiss)
I. Awaken to a rainbow garden Bedecked with sneaky slits of sunlight Where butter rains and fills your pores And the gods put up a good fight.
Awaken to a pond of flowers Self-arising in its motion Slowly waving, then just parting While the frogs rub on some lotion.
II. Shiva falls into the deepest Chasm while National Pride has a weakening spasm.
No one can get that drugged out boy to leave our breakfast table. No one can climb a staircase in quality quicksand.
There’s no bug or beast that can raise a limb and offer a suggestion.
This city is an ongoing web in the shape of an ever-expanding oval sphere, inhabited by every possible sensory pleasure, by every conceivable suffering; though diffuse, it can be tasted everywhere.
Brother Self-Arising Star said: it makes perfect sense that in holy places there’s more grime, more seediness, more evil, because there the demons come to test out their skills.
I don’t think I’m a demon but get the feeling with every instant and occasion in this place that it might be good to try out my skills too.
But the range of needs might be too vast; I might not have that kind of utility belt – these kinds of thoughts cannot hold sway for more than a flash in being-time or they shall perish my legions of warriors which emanate from within.
With throbbing pulses of words transforming resounding silence from inside transforming words that find their homes in my heart, then out towards the sky
That’s how I’ll walk the streets, talk and bargain with shopkeepers.
It’s a Given; it streams down even to my feet and I need it.
Oh i need it.

| A bit bored |
[Jul. 18th, 2008|09:12 pm] |
So, I'm finally settled in at my place and have been here for a little over a week.. It's a nice place, although it's a bit smaller than my last place - but I think that's for the best....less to cool and less to clean up.
I'm hoping this move sparks some things in me and I make some changes that need to happen - you know like socializing and stuff a bit more. Well currently, I'm attempting but the people I work with at work are all married and seem to spend their weekends with their wives & stuff [ but that makes sense ]
I'm trying to get involved with the Alumni Society Chapter out here, so that's some progress but other than that it's been very boring. There is no one at work that I'm working with that's close to my age -- the guys I do work with are 30+ and like I said have the wife and all.
Work is a bit different here than how it was in State College. I work a 9/80 work week, and this means I have every other Friday off - but it also means that I'm at work a bit longer those other days. They are also a lot more strict, this means no hopping on the net & screwing off during the day. I used to hop on AIM/GChat and also have winamp open along with some other things -- but here - no dice.
I've been working there I guess about 3 weeks now and it's a good time - I'm doing some interesting stuff and basically it's all new to me. Software is software , but this is stuff I never did before so it's a learning experience and it's nice to be on the cutting edge for a change.
Other than that, that's really it. I'm hoping to socialize a bit more here & there - but it's going slower than anticipated. I keep on having weird dreams as of late - and I keep waking up remembering them quite well. And it wouldn't be so bad if some of them weren't as disturbing as they are.
I wake up and I say to myself - you should have known you were dreaming -- and well ehh. So, that's that.
I saw The Dark Knight today and it was good - I recommend all you comic book nerds go see it |

| Star Trek (2009) Teaser Poster |
[Jul. 18th, 2008|06:34 pm] |
http://trekmovie.com/2008/07/17/preview-of-star-trek-comic-posters-with-first-cast-photos/
Check out the new teaser poster for the upcoming movie (see above, released at Comic-Con 2008).
What does everyone think?
Personally, I'm not a fan of the "quad image" thing (see The Matrix Revolutions dvd cover), but I do think Kirk, Spock and Uhura look great. I'm not sure about the villain, though - I guess he's trying to hide which race he is. The tattoo looks...out of place for Trek, but it could be a stylized logo or something. |
